A cholesterol test measures the amount of this particular fat in the body, and involves a blood sample usually taken from the arm. Too much cholesterol can lead to a clogging of the arteries and, eventually, to heart problems.

Taking a blood pressure test is easy, and the results can indicate if the heart and arteries are at risk. High blood pressure is a serious matter, and should be dealt with as soon as possible.

The BMI test measures an individual’s body mass index. People who are overweight will have high reading for this test, and will be more at risk of heart problems than those who don’t.

Many people take tests for diabetes, especially those over 40. The disease is as a result of the body not producing the right levels of insulin, and can have serious implications for the patient.
