Male Grooming

The importance of male grooming

Male grooming can be a bit of a touchy subject, with many Neanderthals refusing to take care of their skin.

However, in time they will see their mistake as a few simple beauty tips can keep skin looking, and feeling, healthy well in to old age.

And to help make male grooming easier, a variety of new potions and electrical gizmos have entered the market in recent years.

Previously, male specific grooming products were a rarity but now many of the world’s leading beauty product brands like Lab Series, Dermalogica and Redken have entire ranges designed purely for men.

Some male grooming tips

Some of the most basic male grooming tips relate to an act that nearly all undertake on a daily or weekly basis – shaving.

For a clean, close shave that doesn’t cause irritation, the experts’ advice is simple:

  • Use a high-quality razor,
  • Wash your face thoroughly first.
  • Apply a pre-shave oil prior to your preferred shaving cream or gel.
  • Shave only in a downward motion.
  • Take your time.
  • Afterwards, apply a post-shave soothing balm.

Skincare specialists also extol the benefits of moisturising daily, exfoliating regularly (to help prevent ingrown hairs) and even applying a weekly face mask.

For some, the latter of those male grooming suggestions will be a step too far, but face packs have been proven to help spot-prone skin.

And if you still unsure about if male grooming is necessary then bear in mind that Brad Pitt and George Clooney take great care with their skin and they don’t seem to struggle for female attention!
