Look out for chinches when in Spain

My wife and I had a wonderful holiday in Spain, apart from the night we found we had a chinches problem. She had a mysterious bite mark on her neck one morning, and the receptionist took one look at it and said ‘chinches’. We had absolutely no idea what she was talking about, but we later found out she meant bed bugs.

We had gone out for the day and, upon returning, we were informed that we’d been moved to a different room. The hotel manager apologised for the inconvenience, and offered us a free bottle of wine with our evening meal. He explained that the room had been sealed off until the next day, awaiting the arrival of a pest control specialist.

The rest of the trip passed uneventfully, and the bite mark soon disappeared. Bed bugs are unpleasant little creatures, so we were pleased not to have any more problems in that area.
