Chlamydia Treatment: The Basics

by Helen on June 25, 2010

chlamydia treatmentChlamydia is the UK’s most commonly diagnosed sexually trasmitted infection.

The most usual treatment for chlamydia is a course of antibiotics, and this is more than 95% effective. Medication can be given as a single dose, or as a longer course of up to a fortnight.

If there is a chance you have been infected, treatment may begin before you get your test results. You will also be treated if your partner is found to have chlamydia.

You must finish all the capsules prescribed to you. Otherwise, the treatment may not be completely effective at ridding your body of the infection.
