CME – continue medical training

Patients always want to be sure that their doctor is well-trained and up to date with the latest medical research and breakthroughs.

That is why they are sure to be happy with the introduction of CME for GPs.

Continuing Medical Education is a form of training where both GPs and hospital doctors go through a series of regular training exercises to ensure their knowledge and skills are up-to-date.

Doctors must go through a set amount of CME training each year if they are to remain able to practise.

The purpose of the training is to ensure patients receive a standard of care that is second-to-none.

Stay healthy during stag weekends in Scotland

The stag weekend is not a particularly healthy time. After all, most people see their stag night as an excuse to get unbelievably drunk, and perhaps play a few risky pranks.

But it does not have to be about abusing your liver. Instead, you can enjoy stag weekends in Scotland and stay healthy. In fact, you will even get some exercise.

There are companies in Scotland (and elsewhere) that can organise a stag weekend packed full of activities. Not only is this more original than a binge drinking session, it is a lot healthier.

Although, it goes without saying that white water rafting and such like has its risks.

Training as a carer through distance learning

Working in the care sector is highly rewarding, and also very challenging. It is important you stay up to date with any developments if you are already working in the industry.

However, simply finding the time can be difficult. Fortunately, this is no longer the case as you can take many relevant courses through distance learning.

That way you will be able to fit your study around current career and family commitments.

It will also help you decide if you want to specialise in the care sector, and where your talents may lie – whether it is in child, adult or senior care.

The industry needs more dedicated carers, and this is a good way to train them.

Hope for combating diabetes

There has been an important advancement in the fight against type 1 diabetes, which affects around 200,000 people in England.

Scientists in Cambridge have found that levels of blood sugar can be regulated by using an “artificial pancreas”. This delivers insulin when it is needed, to stop blood sugar dropping to dangerously low levels.

The study – carried out by the Lancet – has increased hopes that type 1 diabetes can be controlled effectively, without having to monitor blood sugar manually and administer insulin injections.

This could be be a highly important to combating diabetes in children, although the artificial pancreas is currently operational only in hospitals.

Seeking reassurance with an early pregnancy test

If you believe you are pregnant, it is important to take an early pregnancy test. Once you have a definite answer, you can go to the midwife to discuss the best steps to take to ensure a healthy pregnancy.

Some of the steps you should take include increasing the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables you eat, especially citrus fruits.

A serving of tuna of similar oily fish a week can cut the risk of a premature birth and improve your baby’s eyesight.

Drinking plenty of water during pregnancy will help sooth morning sickness.

Finally, avoid mould ripened cheeses, which have been associated with miscarriage.

And most of all…congratulations.
